DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - On Tuesday afternoon, Eliana Sheplee became the first player in Embry-Riddle women's basketball program history to earn NABC/D2CIDA National Player of the Week recognition. Sheplee led now 14th-ranked Embry-Riddle to wins over Florida Southern and Tampa last week with double-double performances in each game while averaging 28 points and shooting over 70 percent from the field along the way. She began the week with a 24-point, 12-rebound showing in a 79-49 victory over the Moccasins, going 13-of-19 from the field and adding two steals plus an assist.

On Saturday, Sheplee reached the 30-point mark for the second time this season with 32 points and 11 rebounds as Embry-Riddle edged Tampa 67-65; the 32 points were the second-most of the season and third-most in a game in school history. She scored 15 of her 19 first half points in the second quarter and had four three-pointers in the contest as she would finish with her sixth double-double of the season. She has reached at least 20 points in five of the six double-doubles, with a season high 35 points being scored against Flagler (Nov. 24).

The Rice Lake, Wisconsin, native became just the second freshman to win the award this season, joining Bridie McCann of Nova Southeastern as the only Sunshine State Conference players to earn the honor.

In her debut season with ERAU, Sheplee ranks among the top 10 in the country in points per game (20.3) and free throw percentage (90.3), leading the conference in each of those categories. The guard has set 10 different top-10 marks in program history through the first 16 games of her career. Her 20.3 points would also be the best in program history.

The redshirt freshman, who was 24-of-34 (70.6 percent) from the field in the two games, averaged 11.5 rebounds, shot .500 (4-of-8) from beyond the arc, and was perfect at the free throw line (4-for-4) was named as the Sunshine State Conference's Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday morning.
