LAKELAND, Fla. –
Marc Mail came up just short of claiming a regional singles title at the ITA Division II South Regional which concluded on Monday.
Mail dropped his first set against Lynn's Louay Makke 6-3, but rebounded to win the second 6-4 and force a tiebreaker. Mail was unable to carry the momentum of his second-set win into the final stanza, falling 6-3 in the third.
Despite the loss, Mail made program history becoming the first Embry-Riddle men's tennis player to advance to a regional singles final in the Eagles' NCAA II era.
As a regional finalist, Mail has earned a berth into the ITA Division II Individual National Championships which take place Nov. 4-8 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. His teammates
Enrico Rosellini and
Manuel Lanteri, both of whom reached the regional semifinals, will wait to see if they earned at-large bids when the tournament field is announced on Oct. 27.
