Fall Season Concludes at ITA Nationals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The fall season came to an end for the Embry-Riddle women's tennis team on Saturday as Daniela Fernndez Junquera suffered a tough loss to Krystina Hranacova in the semifinal round of the ITA D II Individual National Championships.

Fernandez Junquera gave Hranacova all she could handle on Saturday taking the No. 3 seed to three sets. The sophomore bested Hranacova 7-5 in the first set, but the Nova Southeastern player came back to tie the match score with a 6-2 win in the second and took the third 6-3 to advance.

"I'm super proud of Dani and the week she had in Tuscaloosa," ERAU Head Coach Chad Berryhill said following the match. "Her game was able to grow from match to match in so many ways. I hope it is a major confidence boost for her that she can compete with the best in the country. I'm excited to see her continue to grow and what she can bring to our program this Spring. Vamos Dani!"

As a team, the Eagles posted a 7-5 record and featured a doubles team in the quarterfinals in addition to Fernandez Junquera's semifinal appearance in the first national championship event for NCAA II tennis.
