HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
  • The game appeared headed for a defensive battle early, as the first four possessions ended in turnovers. The Trojans then struck for two goals in a 90-second span to take the game's first lead.
  • Embry-Riddle responded by peppering Anderson's net with seven consecutive shots, the last resulting in a goal by Leo Mileto off an assist from Christopher Harper.
  • With 2:00 remaining in the quarter, Harper notched his second assist to even the score at 2-2. The goal came from Lucas Anthony, who is tied for the team lead with nine goals.
  • The Blue and Gold won three of five faceoffs in the opening quarter, leading to a 13-9 shot advantage, but just four of ERAU's 13 shots were on target.
Second Quarter
  • After a defensive start to the game, the pace would start to pick up with more than 50 shots and 14 goals in the second and third quarters.
  • It took less than 30 seconds for Anderson to start the scoring in the quarter, but Tim Keefe had a quick answer with an unassisted goal to make it 3-3.
  • The only goal for the next 10 minutes would come from the Trojans, giving them a 4-3 lead going into the final two minutes of the half.
  • ERAU made it 4-4 when Mileto scored his second of the game as the Eagles capitalized on a 30-second offside penalty with a man-up goal.
  • The teams would continue to trade goals with Anderson scoring off of the faceoff win, giving the Blue and Gold just over a minute to respond.
  • Embry-Riddle would tie the game for the fourth time when Harper scored in the final seconds of the half, sending the teams to the break with the score level at 5-5. He led the team with three points in the first 30 minutes.
Third Quarter
  • The third quarter started exactly like the first quarter, with the Trojans using two goals in the first five minutes to go up 7-5.
  • ERAU had a great response when Anthony made it 7-6 before a trademark goal from Luke Barber just 19 seconds later tied it up once again. Barber collected the ground ball off of the faceoff and was never stopped in transition by an Anderson defender. The junior has had five shots on goal this season and all five have found the back of the net.
  • After another faceoff win from Jaxon Holden, the Eagles saw their shot saved by Adin Laughlin, who made 14 saves this afternoon, including four in the third quarter.
  • Following the save, Brodie Deutsch would score two goals in the next 60 seconds to put the Trojans ahead 9-7 with 5:00 to go in the third.
  • Mileto finished off his first hat trick from a Gavin Young assist with 3:10 still left to play in a 9-8 contest.
  • In the final five seconds of the quarter, Sammy Lewis netted his third goal of the game, becoming the third player to secure a hat trick and sending Anderson into the fourth quarter with a 10-8 lead.
Fourth Quarter
  • Through three quarters, the score had been tied on five separate occasions and neither team was able to build up a lead of more than two goals in the matchup between two of the top 15 teams in the country.
  • Unfortunately, the Trojans would start the fourth quarter by scoring six unanswered goals, watching their 10-8 lead become 16-8.
  • Anderson won eight of the 10 faceoffs in the quarter, limiting the Eagles' opportunities to try and mount another comeback.
  • With 3:09 left in the game, Keefe grabbed the team's ninth goal of the game and his ninth of the season, as he is now tied with a team-high 12 points this season.
  • Reid Kerr made 18 saves this afternoon, including 10 saves in the second half, enough to put him tied for the seventh most saves in a game in program history. His career high is 21, which came against Anderson in their 2024 matchup.
