MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball traveled down to Miami Shores to face Sunshine State Conference foe Barry for a weekend series, beginning with a Friday twin bill.
The Eagles dropped the pair of games to the Buccaneers, opening with an 8-2 loss and followed with a tough 10-7 decision.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Two scoreless innings would pass before Barry struck first with three runs on five hits in the third inning. The Bucs threatened with more runs but closed with the bases loaded.
- Embry-Riddle responded in the fourth with its first run of the game with a lead-off homer from Emma Wood – her second of the season.
- Barry followed up with a three-hit bottom half of the inning to help plate two more runs, capturing a 5-1 lead.
- A one-out error in the sixth placed Wood on first before singles from Shelby Morse and Mattea Martin scored Wood for the second ERAU run.
- The Bucs added more to the tally in the bottom of the sixth with another five-hit, three-run frame for an 8-2 advantage.
- Vanessa Gilbert and Ava Arnold both produced base hits in the seventh, but the pair were left stranded as Barry secured the first game of the series.
INSIDE THE STATS
- Barry produced a .485 (16-of-33) batting average while the Eagles hit .250 (7-of-28).
- Martin led with two hits and an RBI, followed by Wood with both ERAU runs and a hit.
- Morse pitched for all six innings for the Eagles, giving up eight earned runs on 16 hits and five strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fireworks started early as both teams plated a pair of runs in the opening frame of play in game two.
- Wood led off the game with a single before Leah Oberkehr knocked her first hit of the day.
- ERAU opened the scoring with an Addison Orr RBI single, plating Oberkehr.
- The Eagles added another run with a bases-loaded walk for Gianna Domenici to give ERAU a 2-0 edge.
- In the bottom of the first, Barry responded with a two-RBI single to level the game.
- After a scoreless second, the Bucs plated three runs on an RBI single and a two-RBI base hit to take a 5-2 lead.
- ERAU added a run in the fourth as back-to-back two-out singles from Sierra Lipton and Wood threatened the Bucs' defense before Oberkehr drew in Lipton on an RBI single.
- Barry answered once again with a four-hit, one-error bottom half of the inning to advance to an 8-3 advantage.
- The Eagles cut the deficit down to three with an RBI-double from Orr, followed by Orr scoring on a wild pitch in the top of the fifth.
- Embry-Riddle cut the deficit to one run in the sixth with a two-run homer from Morse, scoring Oberkehr in the process.
- Barry followed up with an RBI-double and a sacrifice flyout to take a 10-7 lead in the bottom of the sixth which would be the final scores of the game.
INSIDE THE STATS
- Barry hit .462 (12-of-26) while Embry-Riddle recorded a .344 (11-of-32) batting average.
- Oberkehr and Orr led the Eagles with season-best performances at the plate, recording three hits each.
- Wood extends to a 13-game streak with one hit or more this season and 15-straight dating back to last season, moving to 146 career hits – third all-time in program history.
- Ava Domenici and Olivia Dougherty split duties in the circle as Domenici pitched for 3.1 innings followed by 2.2 innings from Dougherty.
- Dougherty highlighted with four strikeouts and one earned run.
