DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sunshine State Conference softball returned to Daytona Beach on Friday night as Embry-Riddle softball hosted game one of the weekend series against Rollins.
The Eagles fell behind in the third inning and captured the lead before allowing the Tars to score four runs in the sixth, snapping a nine-game winning streak with the 5-2 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
1st Inning:
- Embry-Riddle was knocking on the door early with a one-out single from Emma Wood followed by a walk by Kendall Wilkie.
- Wood advanced to third on a fly out and nearly made it home but was caught stealing on a 2-6-2-5 rundown to close the inning.
2nd Inning:
3rd Inning:
- Rollins struck first with a run in the third frame scoring on an RBI single after a leadoff hit by pitch, a sacrifice bunt, and a single past second base.
- Embry-Riddle answered in the bottom of the inning, putting together four hits and taking advantage of an error to plate a pair of runs.
- Leah Oberkehr singled from leadoff position and scored the tying run during Wood's at-bat.
- Wood singled and advanced to second on an error in which Oberkehr advanced home.
- A triple from Wilkie pushed Wood across the plate for the second run and the ERAU lead.
6th Inning:
- After a scoreless two innings, Rollins reclaimed control of the lead with four hits leading to four runs on the scoreboard.
- The Tars doubled with a pinch hitter and scored the leveling run on an RBI single before plating a pair on a double down the right-field line.
- Rollins closed with an RBI groundout to lead 5-2.
INSIDE THE STATS
- ERAU led with a 10-7 hit advantage, batting .357 (10-of-28) while Rollins hit .259 (7-of-27).
- Pinch hitters were key for the Tars' offense, as the guests batted .667 (2-of-3) from the bench.
- Oberkehr and Wood led the bats for ERAU with two hits apiece as both scored a run also.
- Shelby Morse pitched for 5.1 innings and gave up five earned runs on seven hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.
- Olivia Dougherty came in for 1.2 innings worth of relief, striking out three batters.
