No. 9 Men’s Tennis Knocks Off No. 4 Washburn with 5-2 Victory

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - No. 9-ranked Embry-Riddle men's tennis hosted No. 4-ranked Washburn on Monday afternoon at the Crotty Tennis Complex.

The Eagles secured a 5-2 victory over the runners-up of the 2025 National Championship to record their second top five win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Embry-Riddle opened with a sweep of doubles play, capturing the first team point.
  • The Eagles took an early advantage from court two as Joao Morgado and Joshua Nuyts paired up for a 6-1 win over Pavlos Parson and Benjamin Fock.
  • ERAU claimed the doubles point with a 6-3 win on court one as the No. 18-ranked pairing of Marc Mail and Enrico Rosellini defeated Kilian Martinez and Tommy Cecchetti.
  • The Eagles swept doubles, winning 6-4 on court three from Mason Cisco and Manuel Lanteri.
  • As for singles, ERAU moved to a 2-0 lead in the match as No. 25-ranked Mail downed No. 8-ranked Parson 6-2, 6-2 on court one.
  • Morgado finished second from court five with a 6-2, 6-2 win over No. 40-ranked Yuto Miyagawa for a 3-0 ERAU edge.
  • Court four fell in favor of Washburn as Zino Nahirniak defeated Nuyts with a 6-0, 6-2 decision.
  • The Eagles clinched the match from court two as Rosellini handed Cecchetti a 6-2, 6-2 defeat for the 4-1 lead.
  • Martinez captured court three over Lanteri, 6-4, 6-2 but Frederic Tu fought in his match on court six against No. 36-ranked Fock.
  • Tu fell 6-4 in the first set before bouncing back in set two with a 6-2 win and a 10-6 tiebreaker to give ERAU the 5-2 victory.
