Eagles Sweep Doubleheader Against Wilmington

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball hosted Wilmington for a pair of games on Tuesday evening, sweeping the Wildcats with an 8-0 victory in game one followed by a 6-2 win in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Embry-Riddle struck first in the bottom of the opening frame with runs from Emma Wood and Leah Oberkehr.
  • Wood opened the frame with a double and scored on a fielder's choice from Oberkehr's at-bat.
  • After a strikeout and two stolen bases later, Oberkehr scored on a fielder's choice from Mattea Martin's at-bat to plate the second run of the inning.
  • The Eagles pushed four runs to home in the third inning, heating up the bats with five hits.
  • After a Shelby Morse double, Morse and Martin both scored on a two-RBI single from Addison Orr for a 4-0 lead.

  • Embry-Riddle surged to a 6-1 lead in the fifth inning with a two-RBI double from Orr and a sacrifice fly from Vanessa Gilbert.
  • Wilmington cut the deficit by one with a two-out RBI single and left the bases loaded to end the game.
