No. 3 Women’s Rowing Wins Varsity Eight Race at Knecht Cup

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. — No. 3 Embry-Riddle women's rowing competed in the largest collegiate regatta of the year this past weekend, earning a win in the V8+ and the V4+ having productive days on the water. The V8+ won their only race of the weekend on Sunday afternoon, while the V4+ raced on Saturday morning and advanced to a second competition on Sunday.

ERAU began the weekend competing at 11 AM on Saturday in the third heat of the Varsity Four field, which featured 29 teams. The top 18 teams would advance to the semifinals while the next six best times progressed to the Final 4. The Blue and Gold got fifth place in their heat with a time of 8:39.22, which was enough to advance to the Final 4. As the only Division II team to reach the Final 4, the Eagles earned a fourth place finish as they crossed the line at 8:57.91.

With a 12:08 PM start on Sunday afternoon, the V8+ competed against Bryant University and the University of Pittsburgh, finishing more than a minute in front of the next closest boat. ERAU comfortably won the race with a time of 7:31.69.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will have two weeks to prepare for the Sunshine State Conference Championship, which will take place on April 24. Embry-Riddle will be heading to Nathan Benderson Park in Sarasota, Florida for the second time this season as they look to claim their fifth consecutive SSC title.
