Softball Slips Past Flagler with Three-Run Fifth Inning

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle softball welcomed Flagler to Daytona Beach for a Tuesday night non-conference matchup, winning 7-5 thanks to a big three-run fifth inning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Flagler struck first in the opening inning with two runs scored thanks to a walk, a single and an RBI fielder's choice.
  • Embry-Riddle cut the deficit in half with a lead-off single from Sierra Lipton before a fielder's choice and a stolen base put Leah Oberkehr in scoring position.
  • A sacrifice bunt from Mattea Martin plated Oberkehr for the score.
  • After a scoreless second frame, ERAU claimed a 3-2 lead with an RBI single from Shelby Morse and a sacrifice fly from Gianna Domenici.
  • The Eagles added a fourth run in the fourth with an RBI groundout from Emma Wood after Oberkehr walked and stole second and third.
  • Flagler tied the game with three hits and two runs in the fifth.
  • ERAU responded with two hits to plate three, claiming a 7-4 edge highlighted by a two RBI double from Lipton.
