No. 4 Women’s Rowing Finishes As Runner-Up at SSC Championships, Varsity Eight Earns Gold

SARASOTA, Fla. — No. 4 Embry-Riddle women's rowing earned a second place team finish at the 2026 SSC Rowing Championship on Friday morning. The day got started with the Varsity Four race, which was won by Nova Southeastern. Following that, ERAU took home the Varsity Eight title in a dominant performance. 

The team championship title is decided by looking at the finish of each team between the two races with more weight being given to the Varsity Eight race. Rollins won the team championship after earning a second-place result in both races.

The Eagles claimed a fourth place in the V4+ race, finishing at 7:55.7. It was a tight finish at the line as Rollins, Tampa, and Embry-Riddle all finished within 1.5 seconds of each other. Nova Southeastern won with a time of 7:50.8, followed by the Tars and then the Spartans. Barry rounded out the race at 8:04.9.

For the fourth consecutive year, the Blue and Gold were the winners of the V8+ race after finishing more than 12 seconds ahead of the next closest boat, crossing the line at 7:01.1. Rollins finished in second with Nova Southeastern rounding out the top three and Tampa coming in fourth as Barry did not compete.

AWARDS
  • Aria Moses and Abby Webb were each recognized on the All-SSC team after their contributions in the winning V8+ boat.
  • Lauren Hoffman was honored with a spot on the All-Freshman/Novice Team, given out to the top five freshman rowers in the SSC.

UP NEXT
The Eagles will now wait for the selection show to see if they will compete at the NCAA Division II Rowing Championship. The field will be revealed on May 19 at 6 PM, while the races would take place May 29-30 on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia.
