ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Embry-Riddle men's golf fired a 13-under performance through 36 holes at the Jay Jennison Cup on Monday, sitting tied for third in the 12-team field. The Eagles posted a two-round total of 563 (-13) at the 6,939-yard, par 72 Slammer & Squire at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla.
Ian Ball led the charge for ERAU, closing out day one in fifth place at 137 (-7), following an opening 67 (-5) and capping off Monday with with a 70 (-2) in round two. Ball's performance was not the only highlight of the day as the Eagles posted 43 birdies as a team to rank second in the field, while adding a pair of eagles from
Rafa Guerrero and
Ryan Gear.
Ball finished fifth at seven-under 137, posting rounds of 67 and 70. Ball is averaging a score of 2.63 on par-3s, finishing three-under through 36 holes. He is also tied first in par-4 scoring with an average of 3.75 and scoring five-under.
Guerrero sits tied for 18th at three-under 141 after rounds of 70 and 71, highlighting with an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole in round one.
Gear is tied for 28th at even-par 144 with matching 72s with an eagle on the par-5 11th hole in the second round. Gear has scored 8-under through two rounds on par-5s, posting an average of 4.00.
Edoardo Scialanga tied for 33rd at one-over 145, opening with a 71 before adding a 74 in the second round.
Roan Smith rounds out the lineup with a T-46th placement after an opening 77 (+5) followed by a two-uner 70 in round two for a 147 (+3) total.
As a squad, Embry-Riddle carded a 280 (-8) in the first round to sit solo second in the team standings before recording a five-under 283 to move to a share of third place with Rollins. Through two rounds, ERAU ranks first in par-3 scoring, with an average score of 2.85 and scoring six-under. The Eagles are tied for first alongside Eckerd and Lynn with two eagles each.
