ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — The RV Embry-Riddle men's golf team etched its name into the program record book Tuesday, posting an 841 (-23) over three rounds at the Jay Jennison Cup. The performance marked the second-best three-round score in program history with rounds of 280 (-8), 283 (-5), and 278 (-10).
The Eagles finished third in the 12-team field at the World Golf Village's Slammer and Squire, landing just five strokes shy of tournament champions and hosts Flagler (-28) and one stroke shy of Lynn's (-24) runner-up finish.
Individually,
Ian Ball led ERAU with a fifth-place finish at 206 (-10), carding rounds of 67 (-5), 70 (-2), and 69 (-3). Ball led the tournament in par-4 scoring at seven-under and a 3.77 average while also scoring two-under on par-3s with an average score of 2.83 to tie for third alongside teammate
Rafa Guerrero.
Following Ball was Guerrero who tied for 13th at 210 (-6) with scores of 70 (-2) and 71 (-1) on Monday and closing with a three-under 69 (-3). Guerrero posted an average score of 3.93 on par-4s, going two-under for the tournament.
Ryan Gear tied for 24th with a two-under 214 total, ranking second in par-5 scoring at 11-under for the tournament and a 4.08 scoring average. In the final round, Gear posted an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole, adding two birdies as well.
Edoardo Scialanga placed 28th with a three-round total of 215 (-1), finishing with a two-under 70 on Tuesday. Scialanga posted an eagle on the par-5 11th hole in round three, adding three birdies.
To round out the Eagles,
Roan Smith finished T-53rd with a 224 (+8) total after carding a five-over 77 in round three.
As a team, ERAU finished the tournament ranked second in the field in par-3 scoring average (2.97) and a score of two-under for the tournament. In addition, the Eagles recorded a 4.67 scoring average on par-5s for a score of -20 for the tournament. Embry-Riddle posted 58 birdies for third in the field and led the field with four eagles as Gear posted two, followed by Guerrero and Scialanga with one each.
