NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla - On Saturday, September 19, the Embry-Riddle baseball team volunteered with The Miracle League of Volusia County at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex. 2026 marks the fourth consecutive year that ERAU has participated with the Baseball Buddies Program. 

Founded in 2015, The Miracle League of Volusia County is a nonprofit organization that has provided the opportunity for those with special needs to play in organized baseball games. Since its inception, the program has provided opportunities for over 13,000 school-aged children from the Volusia and Flagler counties. 

        Mission Statement: "To provide a safe and friendly environment for children and young adults with varying exceptionalities, in and around Volusia County, to play baseball."

Games are played at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex, which is a facility that has been specially designed with varying exceptionalities in mind. The ballpark includes a rubberized and non-latex surface that accommodates wheelchairs and other assistive devices. 

The Miracle League of Volusia County is one of 275 Miracle League Organizations that were founded in 1999 and have since expanded to Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Australia. These organizations have served over 200,000 children and young adults with disabilities over the past 27 years. 

This opportunity allows the Eagles and Miracle League Players to create memorable bonds while playing catch, rounding the bases, and showing off skills with the bat. 

Involvement: Games are played at the New Smyrna Beach Sports Complex on Turnbull Bay Rd. The season began on September 19th and games are played on Saturday mornings at 9:00am and 10:15am.
