Former Embry-Riddle standout and team captain Daniel Kiesling joins the Eagle coaching staff for the 2016-17 season following an impressive career on the court for the Blue and Gold. Kiesling played four seasons at ERAU, leading the Eagles to a 100-29 overall record. Kiesling's leadership was evident both on the court and off it as the Eagles claimed two Sun Conference tournament crowns, a Sun Conference regular season title and advance to the NAIA II National Tournament semifinals in his junior season.
Kiesling appeared in 123 games with 68 starts, logging over 3,000 minutes in an Eagle uniform. The forward scored 923 points and grabbed 555 rebounds, while dishing out 158 assists with 98 steals and 48 blocks. Kiesling's 158 career three-pointers rank 10th all-time in ERAU history and his 555 career boards rank 15th.
Kiesling was named the 2013-14 Sun Conference Cazzie Russell Champions of Character Award in addition to earning the ERAU Champions of Character Scholarship award. The highest honor for an Embry-Riddle student-athlete was bestowed on Kiesling in 2014-15 as he earned the Steve and Vicky Ridder Scholarship for embodying the mantra of Student-Person-Player.
Kiesling, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, played three seasons for Henry Clay High School where he averaged 11 points and eight rebounds. Kiesling graduated from Embry-Riddle in 2016 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently pursuing his MBA from ERAU.
