2019-20 Men's Golf Roster
Biography
In March of 2016, Embry-Riddle Men's Golf Coach Ken Staton announced the signing of Nathan McKee to a National Letter of Intent through a partnership with Team IMPACT.
McKee is a nine-year-old from New Smyrna Beach who faces two separate genetic abnormalities, POMC deficiency and SIM1 deficiency, which cause him to have low muscle, low stamina, sensory issues and his endocrine glands to not work properly. To help with his condition, McKee is on a very strict diet of 600-700 calories per day. He wears Ankle Foot Orthosis on his feet to support his ankles and he uses a wheelchair when needed. He wears a C-Pap machine, which he calls his "Stormtrooper mask," at night because he has severe obstructive sleep apnea.
McKee is currently the only person in the United States that suffers from POMC deficiency, which presently has less than 10 known cases worldwide. He is also believed to be the only person in the world with both POMC deficiency and SIM1 deficiency.
