Biography
2009-10: CROSS-COUNTRY – NAIA All-American for his 12th place finish at the NAIA National Championships with a time of 25:34.00…2009 All-Conference performer with a time of 26:51.59 for a second place finish at The Sun Conference Championships (11/7/09)…four of his five times rank in the top-20 all-time in Embry-Riddle history…ERAU’s top finisher at the Charles Bowles Invite (10/3/09) in 24:14.19, as well as the Southeastern Classic (10/24/09) when he ran a 25:26.24.
2008-09: OUTDOOR – Placed first in the 1500m run at the Spike’s Classic (Mar. 21) with a time of 4:02.20…set his third school record of the 2009 season in the 1500m with at time of 3:47.48 at the Florida Relays (Apr. 3) competed in both the 800m run and 1500m run at the 2009 Sun Conference Championships (Apr. 19) and placed first (3:59.71) and sixth (2:03.33), respectively…took first place in the 4x800m relay as a member of a team that ran a time of 7:39.55 at The Sun Conference Championships…earned All-American honors at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships (May 21-23) after helping the 4x800 relay team to fourth place with a time of 7:30.31. INDOOR – Earned All-American honors as he raced to a second place finish at the NAIA National Indoor Championships (Mar. 7) in the one mile setting a school record time of 4:08.82…also garnered All-America honors as a member of the distance medley relay team in a sixth place finish at the national championships after setting a school record in the relay’s preliminaries in a time of 10:11.59…placed first in the 1000m at the ERAU Challenge (Jan.31) with a time of 1:53.22…member of the 4x400 relay team that raced to a first place finish at the ERAU Challenge in a time of 3:20.85…took first in the 800m run with a time of 1:53.22 at the ERAU Last Chance (Feb. 21) and second in the 600m run with a school record time of 1:19.24. CROSS-COUNTRY – Garnered four overall first place titles and never finished lower than second among the Eagle pack…posted the top-three fastest times in Embry-Riddle history throughout the season…took home the gold at the Florida Tech Invitational (Sept. 13), Asics Invitational (Sept. 20) and FSU Invitational (Sept. 27), with times of 25:21, 26:49.55 and 25:32.47, respectively…ran his season-best time and became the fastest runner ever at ERAU after crossing the finish line in 25:03 at The Sun Conference Championships on Nov. 8.
At Arkansas: Lettered in track for one season for the Arkansas Razorbacks...member of the NCAA DI runner-up distance medley relay team...part of the 2004 NCAA Division I National Championship Track and Field Team...NCAA DI All-American...All-SEC selection.
Prep: Graduated from Flagler Palm Coast High School in 2003...earned three letters for current Embry-Riddle assistant coach Peter Hopfe...two-time state 800m champion...set the state record in the 1600m (4:09)...2003 National High School Track and Field mile champion...has the 13th fastest high school time in the mile ever (4:03)...All-America, All-Region and All-State selection.
Personal: Born in Leominster, Mass. on May 3, 1984...son of Samuel and Martissa Vazquez...majoring in Aviation Business Administration.
