Adelaide Wood joined the Embry-Riddle tennis staff as a volunteer assistant coach in January 2016.
Originally from Montreux, Switzerland, Wood was already well acquainted with the Eagles tennis program when she arrived in Daytona Beach. Wood battled Eagle tennis players for three seasons as a member of the Northwood women’s tennis team. She was the Seahawks’ top-flight player and was selected as team captain in each of her three seasons.
Wood enjoyed great success on the court in her three years at Northwood. A two-time NAIA First Team All-American, she was also named to the All-Sun Conference team twice and won the 2014 USTA/ITA Florida Regional singles title. She compiled a 39-8 singles record and a 27-13 doubles mark in her last two seasons at Northwood and capped her collegiate career ranked eighth in singles and 12th in doubles in the final ITA/NAIA national rankings of 2015. Wood also played for the Swiss National C Tennis team from 2010-14.
Wood was a two-sport athlete at Northwood. In addition to playing tennis, she was a member of the Seahawks’ cross country team and still holds the program record in the 5K.
Wood earned her Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Marketing in May 2015 and currently works as a Competitive Tennis Administrative Assistant at USTA Florida.
