Eagles Take Three From Mountain State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Freshman Abby Hall marked 12 kills in the Eagles' second match of the Homewood Suites Invitational as Embry-Riddle ended the day as the only team to go 2-0 in the first day of the tournament. The Eagles won their second match against Mountain State, 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-8).

Hall was aided by senior captain Marissa Gonzales as she marked 34 assists and dug up four Cougar attacks that led to three Embry-Riddle kills. The Eagles attacked for a percentage of .455 in the third game, where 11 kills in 22 attempts brought the game to a close.

The Eagles shut-down the Cougars offense as ERAU dug 51 attack attempts and MSU hit negative for the match. Hall dug 15 balls and had one assist to go with her team leading kills. Alana Martinez led the attack up the middle as she hit .429 killing 8 of her attack attempts. Savannah Trakes had nine kills and nine digs, while Hannah Rasmussen had 12 digs as the Eagles libero.

The Blue and Gold will continue play in the Homewood Suites Invitational on Saturday, August 30 in the ICI Center. They will play at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. against Martin Methodist (Tenn.) and Baker (Kan.), respectively.
