Olsen Hat Trick Leads Eagles Past Ave Maria 6-0

Tova Torstensson scored her first goal of the season in the win over Ave Maria
AVE  MARIA, Fla. – Sophomore Martine Olsen recorded her first hat trick of the 2011 season to lead the 14th-ranked Embry-Riddle women's soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Ave Maria (4-7, 2-5), Thursday at Ave Maria's home field. The win moves the Eagles to 10-2-1 on the year and 5-1 in conference play.

The Eagles got the scoring started early, tallying the first goal of the match in the second minute of play. Valerie Obita started the play at midfield and delivered a pass to Cecilie Henriksen on the left side. Henriksen's cross into the box found Olsen who headed the ball past AMU starting keeper Jackie Gonzalez to make the score 1-0.

The next goal came from Obita's boot as the sophomore's shot was too much for Gonzalez to handle and went into the upper left corner to make the score 2-0.

Olsen and Obita each scored another goal in the first 45 minutes to extend the Eagle advantage to 4-0 at the half.

Coming out of the break, the Eagles continued to control the possession and in the 53rd minute, they found the back of the net once again. The Blue and Gold took the ball into the box where it was booted out by the last AMU defender. Tova Torstensson cleaned up the clearance and rifled a shot into the lower right corner for her first goal of the season, which extended the Eagle advantage to 5-0.

Olsen finished a pass from Gabriela Casariego in the 66th minute to complete the hat trick and close out the win.

The Eagles return to action at 7 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Lakeland to take on conference foe Southeastern.
