LAKE WALES, Fla. –The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team scored six first-half goals en route to a dominating 9-0 victory over the Lady Royals of Warner on Sunday afternoon in Lake Wales, Fla. With the win the Eagles improved to 10-4 on the season and 4-1 the Sun Conference. The loss drops Warner to 2-8 overall and 1-4 in conference play.

Embry-Riddle applied pressure from the first whistle, possessing the ball in the Lady Royals defensive third for most of the first half. The possession led to a decisive advantage in shots, 17-1, and shots on goal as the Eagles found the frame 13 times, compared to one for the Lady Royals.

The Eagles got the first goal of the game off the foot of Martine Olsen. Allison Schultz took a shot from the top of the penalty area and the deflection found the feet of Olsen who fired a left-footed shot into the upper right corner for the goal.

Just three minutes later Janina Helwig netted the first goal of her career, a one-touch shot into the lower left corner. Valerie Obita got the play started, pushing the ball down the right side, passing to Olsen inside the penalty area. Olsen was able to find the feet of Helwig who was open for the goal.

The Blue and Gold continued to press hard, scoring the third goal of the game, Krizzy Menez's eighth of the season. Katherine Ebbs corralled a low goal kick and sent Menez into the box. Menez ran on the ball and was able to beat Warner goalkeeper Andrea Owens off the left post in the net.

Thirty seconds later Menez once again raced down the right side and sent a bender into the box, finding the feet of Olsen. Olsen's shot deflected off the hands of Owens, giving the Eagles the 4-0 lead.

Gabriela Casariego wasted no time making her presence felt, scoring her second goal of the season less than two minutes after checking in for Menez. Kristin Sverrisdottir possed a free ball on the right side of the field and sent a cross into the box where she found the head of Casariego just outside the goal box, past Owens for the five goal advantage.

Ange Durston-Ryan got into the action, scoring her third goal of the season. She played the ball past her defender, beating her down the left side. She possessed the ball into the box and fired a shot from about 10 yards out, squeezing he ball between Owens and the near post, giving the Eagles their sixth goal of the game, taking a 6-0 lead into the half.

It took 22 minutes for the Eagles to get their first goal of the second half as Ebbs sent a through ball that Menez ran onto, beating Owens one-v-one for her second goal of the game.

Ebbs and Schultz connected on a set piece two minutes later to give Embry-Riddle the 8-0 lead. Ebbs sent a bender in from the right corner, finding the head of Schultz who bounced the ball over Owens head for her third goal of the year.

The Blue and Gold scored their ninth goal of the game off the foot of Lauren McCall, scoring her first goal of the season. McCall ran onto a pass from Ebbs and had her first shot blocked by Owens, but stuck with the play and cut the ball just inside the post for the goal.

The Eagles offensive attack kept the ball in the Lady Royals defensive third for the majority of the game. Embry-Riddle outshot Warner 26-2, including an 18-2 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles attempted 18 corner kicks and limited the Lady Royals to just three.
