DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team continues to be ranked among the top 10 teams in the nation, coming in at No. 9 in the latest Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll, which was released by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics on Tuesday. The Eagles received 263 points to move from eighth to ninth in the rankings.
The Eagles closed out the 2013 regular season at 9-9 overall. They finished second in The Sun Conference at 6-1 and will be the No. 2 in the conference tournament, which begins on Friday, April 19, at ERAU's Crotty Tennis Complex.
As the one of the tournament's top two seeds, Embry-Riddle will have a bye in the first round and will see its first action in Saturday's semifinals. ERAU will take on the Northwood/Southeastern winner at 9 a.m.
Xavier (La.) moved into the No. 1 spot for the first time this season, receiving eight first place votes for 334 points. Brenau (332) is second, followed by Auburn Montgomery (323), SCAD Savannah (316) and William Carey (297).
