DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Junior
Kristina Marova and freshman
Hui-I Huang were both listed among the Top 25 singles players in the NAIA according the final national poll released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Friday.
A freshman from Changhua, Taiwan, Huang posted a 16-11 overall singles record on the way to a No. 8 national ranking. She was named the ITA/NAIA Rookie of the Year and was a first team NAIA All-America and All-Sun Conference selection.
Ranked No. 14 overall, Marova (Star Sediste, Czech Republic) closed out her junior season at 18-10 in singles. A second team All-America and first team All-Conference selection, courtesy of her 5-1 league record, Marova was awarded the 2013-14 Steve & Vicky Ridder and ERAU Champions of Character scholarships. She was also recognized for her achievements in the classroom as her 3.848 GPA in Business administration afforded her Academic All-Conference, NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete and Capital One Academic All-District honors.
Marova and Huang also enjoyed a successful doubles partnership in 2012-13. The duo finished third at the ITA/NAIA National Championship and went 19-11 on the year on the way to a No. 2 national doubles ranking.
The Embry-Riddle women closed out the season with a 12-11 overall record. The Eagles finished as runner-up in The Sun Conference standings at 6-1 and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NAIA National Tournament.
