LIVE STATS:Â Stretch InternetABOUT EMBRY-RIDDLEThe Blue and Gold are 10-7 on the season after splitting a pair of matches last week, falling to NCAA II Eckerd before picking up a conference win over Southeastern. ERAU has won eight of it's last nine matches. The Eagles reached the NAIA National Tournament Final Site for the fourth consecutive season in 2013. Head Coach Josylnn Gallop is the winningest coach in program history, owning a 233-91 career record in this, her 10th season at the helm of the Eagles.
ABOUT CAL STATE - SAN MARCOSThe Cougars are 16-8 on the season and have won three of their last four matches. CSUSM is currently receiving votes in the national poll and has been ranked as high as No. 23 earlier this season. This will be the first meeting between the Eagles and Cougars.
CSUSM ranks among the top 50 in the NAIA in a number of categories, including hitting percentage (.217, 27th), assists/set (11.66, 31st), kills/set (12.66) and service aces/set (1.73). Individually, Alyssa Foster is 26th in the country in assists/set (9.90) while Jordan Banich leads the team with 211 kills. Morgan Willis leads the Cougars with 40 blocks (four solo) and Samantha Flores has collected a team-high 298 digs.ABOUT WESTMONTThe Warriors are 12-11 on the season after dropping three of their last five contests. Six of Westmont's 11 losses have been 3-2 decisions. This will be the first meeting between the Eagles and Warriors.
WC is 28th in the nation in assists/set (11.75), 31st in kills/set (12.71) and 48th in hitting percentage (.205). Ciena Colburn ranks 33rd in blocks/set (1.06) and Heidi Thompson is 47th in total assists (720). Madison Serrano leads the team in kills (225) and service aces (27) while Kami Troesh has a team-high 334 digs.ABOUT VANGUARDThe Lions are 18-7 on the season and have won seven of their last 10 matches. Vanguard is currently ranked 19th in the NAIA. This will be the second meeting between the Eagles and the Lions; VU defeated Embry-Riddle, 3-2 on Aug. 28, 2001 in the schools' only previous match, which was also played at Bross Gymnasium at The Master's College.
VU is a balanced team with no individuals ranking among the top 50 in any statistical categories, while at the same time ranking among the top 35 in the four major offensive categories. The Lions are 18th in assists/set (12.12), 19th in kills/set (13.19), 23rd in hitting percentage (.222) and 34th in blocks/set (2.09). Jessica Neves leads the team with 263 kills and 23 service aces while Sarah McKinny has a team-high 72 blocks (12 solo). Lauren Hays is the primary setter with 641 assists and Kelly Heenan has picked up a team-leading 376 digs.ABOUT THE MASTER'SThe Mustangs are 14-9 on the season and have won five of their last seven matches. TMC is currently receiving votes in the national poll and was ranked 19th in the preseason coaches' poll. This will be the third meeting between the Eagles and the Mustangs; ERAU swept The Master's at home on Sept. 1, 2000, and TMC returned the favor with a 3-0 victory in Santa Clarita on Aug. 28, 2001.TMC is ranked in two team categories, service aces/set (1.90, 20th) and hitting percentage (.208, 41st), while Ashley Kuhlman is listed 33rd individually with a .316 hitting percentage. Kuhlman also leads the team with 215 kills and 44 blocks (six solo). Aubrey Bekendam has a team-leading 657 assists while Emily Clark has collected a team-high 312 digs.
BLUE AND GOLD AMONG THE NATION'S BESTThe Eagles have shown this season that they are among the best in the NAIA in kills and assists. Embry-Riddle is currently averaging 12.75 kills/set, the 30th-best average in the country. With 11.79 assists/set, ERAU ranks 25th in the NAIA.
GRAY DOMINANT DEFENSIVELYSenior libero
Hannah Gray has proven that she is one of the best defensive players in the country with her stellar play this season. Gray, last year's Sun Conference Libero of the Year, is currently averaging 6.25 digs/set, the third-highest average in the nation. On Aug. 30, the DeLand, Florida native racked up 46 digs, which is currently tied for the seventh-highest single-match total in the NAIA this year.
FERREIRA DOING IT ALLJunior setter
Tamires Ferreira is out to prove that setters can do more than just rack up assists. She has done a great job circulating the ball while running the 5-1 offense for the Eagles, recording 649 assists for an average of 10.30 assists/set, which ranks her 17th in the nation in that category. Ferreira totaled a career-high 60 assists against St. Thomas on Sept. 12, which is currently tied for the ninth-highest single-match total in the nation this season. In addition to setting, she has also collected a team-leading 40 service aces, ranking sixth in the NAIA with an average of 0.63 service aces/set. The junior has also been solid defensively, picking up 183 digs, second-best on the team. Ferreira has also proven to be an offensive threat herself, putting down 64 kills, the sixth-highest total on the team. The Barbacena, Brazil native also has 18 blocks on the season, ranking sixth on the Eagle squad.
BEATTY COMING UP BIGSenior outside hitter
Jennifer Beatty has been climbing the national leaderboard as of late, and currently ranks 28th in the NAIA with 3.56 kills/set. Beatty leads the team with 221 kills, including a 28-kill effort against St. Thomas on Sept. 12, which is currently tied for the eighth-highest single-match total in the nation this season.
MILESTONE ACHIEVEMENTSenior libero
Hannah Gray entered the 2014 season on the hunt for a career milestone and a program record during the 2014 season. Gray surpassed Senia McIntyre's program record of 1,784 career digs in ERAU's victory over Southeastern on Oct. 10. Her 12th dig of that match, which came late in the second set, was her 1,785th of her career. Gray has led the team in digs in each of her two years at Embry-Riddle, including last year's single-season school-record 809 digs. Her career total currently stands at 1,788 digs.
PRESEASON FAVORITESThe Sun Conference coaches selected the Eagles to top the league's preseason poll, released in August. Embry-Riddle garnered seven first-place votes and 49 total points to claim the No. 1 spot in the poll, while St. Thomas came in second with one first-place votes and 41 total points.
20 SEASONS OF EAGLE VOLLEYBALLThe 2014 season marks the 20th edition of Eagle volleyball. Embry-Riddle is 437-245 all-time, capturing six regular season titles, five conference tournament titles and making four appearances at the NAIA National Championship.
