AT A GLANCE
The third-ranked Embry-Riddle Eagles return to Sun Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Lake Wales, Fla. against the Warner Royals. Embry-Riddle evened their season record on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over visiting Davenport, holding the Panthers to just three hits. The Royals have lost four consecutive games, including their last, an 11-2 loss to the same Davenport team on Monday.

EMBRY-RIDDLE
The Blue and Gold has relied on one of the best pitching staffs in the country early in 2014. The Eagle staff has allowed an average of six hits per contest, and less than five over the last seven games. ERAU's 2.51 team ERA ranks second in the league while the .195 opponent's batting average clip is tops in the conference.

The Eagles have sent Daniel Poncedeleon, Stetson Nelson and Corey Tufts to the mound in each of the first two TSC series of the year, while both David Lidyard and Clayton Wagner have tossed several innings in each of the six conference games. Poncedeleon is 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in four starts with a team-high 29 strikeouts. Nelson, who in his last start threw the fifth no-hitter in program history, is 2-1 with a 0.65 ERA in 27.2 innings of work, holding opponents to .122 from the plate.

Embry-Riddle has steadily improved its batting average over the last two weeks, now at .244 for the season. J Rhet Montana and Kevin Lindheim are the only Eagles hitting above .300 at .342 and .309 respectively. Montana's four doubles and .447 slugging percentage ranks first on the team while Lindheim paces the squad with 17 hits and 11 runs scored.

SCOUTING WARNER
The Royals are trying to get back to The Sun Conference Tournament for the first time since 2012 and are sitting sixth in the league standings. WU has lost four straight, getting swept by St. Thomas last weekend in Miami Gardens before dropping Monday's game to Devenport.

Warner is hitting .261 as a team with a slugging percentage of .336 and on-base percentage of .307. Sergio Perez has recorded 19 hits, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored for the Royals and Chris Mejia has a .333 average, 13 hits and six runs scored. The Royals have connected on seven long balls in 16 games in 2014.

Aaron Kehres highlights a Warner pitching staff that has a 5.56 ERA in 132.2 innings. Kehres is 2-1 in four starts with a 2.25 ERA in 28.0 innings of work. Kehres and Dalton Kelly have recorded 32 of the team's 79 Ks on the season. Opponents of the Royals are hitting .288 against the WU staff.

THE #ERAUvsWU SERIES
The Eagles enjoy a 60-33 all-time record against the Royals, but are just 16-18 against WU in Lake Wales. The last time the Eagles traveled to Warner was the 2012 season where the Eagles swept the Royals for the first time on the road since 1995. The series win was also the first time the Eagles won a series in Lake Wales since 1999.

STATISTICAL TIDBITS
• 257 wins by the Eagles in the month of February
Kevin Lindheim needs three hits to reach 100 in his ERAU career
• With two wins this weekend, the Eagles will have beaten Warner more than any other opponent in team history
• The Eagles are on pace for 517 strikeouts as a team, which would break the record of 480 set in 2010.
