Darryl Knight went 3-for-6 with three RBIs and a home run in the Eagles' twin bill split on Saturday.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Third-ranked Embry-Riddle saw its 10-game Sun Conference win streak halted in the first of two games on Saturday with a 3-1 loss to Northwood, but the hosts responded with a come-from-behind 8-5 win in the series finale to claim the series, two games to one.
The Eagles (18-11, 13-2) couldn't solve Seahawk starter Patrick Barrington in the opener, managing just one run on six hits as the Seahawks beat the Eagles at Sliwa Stadium for the first time since April 15, 2005.
Embry-Riddle was able to salvage the series win behind 13 hits in the final weekend game, sending the Seahawks (15-10-1, 3-6) to their third straight conference series loss.
The Eagles take their spring trip to Tennessee and Kentucky next week, taking on No. 10 Cumberland in two games on March 17-18, as well as squaring off with Oklahoma Wesleyan before traveling to No. 15 Lindsey Wilson on March 19.

Box Score
Embry-Riddle scored early in Saturday's opener, plating a run in the first when
Darryl Knight recorded the third consecutive Eagle hit against Barrington, scoring
Jake Cavender from third after he and
Kevin Lindheim struck base hits. Barrington got out of the inning by picking
Logan Bailey off first and getting
J Rhet Montana to ground out.
Stetson Nelson was perfect the first time through the Seahawk lineup, but Randolph Ham broke up Nelson's gem with a leadoff single in the fourth moving to second on a sacrifice bunt. Curt Hilgenberg tied the game with a double down the right field line, scoring when Brandon Crawford doubled two batters later for a 2-1 NU lead. Noel Garcia was the beneficiary of an Eagle outfield error that allowed Crawford to score from second as the visitors extended their lead to 3-1.
Inning after inning Barrington kept the Eagles guessing, issuing just two walks and a hit by pitch from the second through the start of the seventh, allowing just one runner to reach second until
Matt Jacobs singled with two outs in the seventh and his pinch runner
Connor Williams swiped second. However, Barrington got the punch out of
Kyle Buchanan to end the ERAU threat and send the game to the eighth inning.
Embry-Riddle put two on in the eighth after a single, error and walk, but again Barrington answered with a strikeout of Montana to end the threat.
The Eagles attempted a bottom of the ninth comeback by loading the bases with just one out, but Barrington, who was left in to try and finish the game, induced a shallow fly ball and a ground ball that resulted in a force out as the Eagles failed to break through.
Each team manged just six hits, but Barrington (5-1) notched the win for the Seahawks, tossing a complete game, allowing one run with seven Ks. Nelson (4-2) was tagged with the loss, surrendering three runs (two earned) on six hits with no walks and seven strikeouts.
Game 2 -
Box Score
Game number three in the series looked like it might go Northwood's way when the Seahawks scored in the first off of
Corey Tufts, but the sophomore settled in and matched Alan Carey, the NU starter pitch for pitch until the Eagles finally found the scoreboard in the fifth.
ERAU stranded the potential tying run at third both in the third and fourth innings, but ERAU took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on a peculiar play in the infield. With
Kyle Chastain on second and pinch runner Williams at first,
Kyle Buchanan drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases with one out. Cavender took a Carey pitch up the middle that looked like an ideal double play ball, but after the first out was made at second, the NU shortstop had the ball flip out of his glove on the transfer, allowing Cavender to be safe at first, and when the shortstop failed to get to the ball quickly, Williams tried for home and scored when the throw from the middle infielder was high.
Northwood quickly fired back with a run in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2 when Keivan Berges singled to short, chasing in Curt Hilgenberg from third after the Northwood centerfielder tripled with two outs.
The Eagles got a big boost from catcher Knight in the last of the sixth when he hit a no-doubter over the left field fence, scoring Lindheim and himself after Lindheim walked to begin the inning. John Clarke relieved Carey after the long ball, but gave up a single to Goodall who stole second and scored when
Hunter Bruehl doubled to deep right center, giving the home team a 5-2 cushion.
Tufts surrendered his second homer of the season when Chris Fahey hit one to right to begin the seventh, but Tufts wasn't phased and retired the next three batters to move the game to the bottom of the frame.
Montana plated a run in the home half of the eighth with a single to right, scoring
Jordan Johnson for a 6-3 Embry-Riddle advantage.
The Seahawks failed to go away and got within one run in the eighth by scoring two against reliever
David Lidyard, both runs coming with two outs. But, the Eagles were once again able to answer, scoring twice in their last at-bat to regain a three-run lead at 8-5. Buchanan and Johnson both collected RBIs in the inning as Chastain and Cavender scored.
Ronnie Lozada entered in the ninth for the save situation, facing the minimum with two stikeouts and a flyout for his fifth save of the 2014 season.
Tufts (5-2) tossed seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits with a career-high nine stikeouts while Lozada earned the save. Carey (3-2) got the loss for NU, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits with two walks and three Ks.
Chastain finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored while a trio of Eagles collected two hits: Johnson, Knight and Goodall. Knight finished the day 3-for-6 with three RBIs.
