AT A GLANCENo. 13 Embry-Riddle travels to South Florida to take on perennial rival St. Thomas this weekend. The Eagles or Bobcats have won the last 12 Sun Conference regular season titles (ERAU 11, STU 1) and each of the last five TSC Tournament crowns (ERAU 4, STU 1). With two wins this weekend, ERAU would capture the 2014 TSC Regular Season championship.
EMBRY-RIDDLEThe Eagles have found some offensive success over the last few weeks, raising their season batting average to .288 while bringing up their runs per game to 5.0. Embry-Riddle stands atop of The Sun Conference standings at 19-2 with six games (two series) remaining, while looking to improve its non-conference record to above .500, currently 11-12.
Darryl Knight leads four players hitting above .300, raking at .344 with 21 extra-base hits for a .571 slugging percentage. Knight leads the team with seven homers and 39 RBIs with 88 total bases.
Kevin Lindheim is hitting .322 with a team-high 57 hits and 12 doubles, plating 35 runs while scoring 30 runs.
Liam Goodall had a great weekend against FMU, putting his season batting average at .315 with 52 hits, five doubles, five triples, 29 runs and 23 RBIs.
David Lidyard has been a workhorse for the Eagles on the mound, posting a 1.11 ERA in 48.2 innings with 32 strikeouts and a .193 batting average against. As a team, the Eagles have a 2.25 ERA with a .206 opponent batting average and 336 Ks.
SCOUTING ST. THOMASSt. Thomas has the best offense in the league, recording a .301 batting average with 279 runs on 407 hits, including 79 doubles, six triples and 16 home runs. The Bobcats are 27-15, but have lost their last two games.
Edwin Medina is hitting .429 with 66 hits, 12 doubles, 38 RBIs and 40 runs scored, also swiping 27 bags in 29 chances. Jerry Downs leads the team with 40 RBIs and four long balls, while Adam Duarte has scored 33 runs with 11 doubles and a .453 on-base percentage.
STU's pitching staff has posted a 3.38 ERA in 348.2 innings of work, allowing just .259 from opponents with 318 Ks. Eddie Cody is 7-1 with a 1.27 ERA and six complete games in 71.0 innings. Emilio Ogando leads the league with 88 strikeouts.
