AT A GLANCEBoth Embry-Riddle and Webber International are looking for something this weekend at Sliwa Stadium. The Eagles will be in search of the No. 1 seed for The Sun Conference Tournament in Fort Myers, Fla. while the Warriors will be looking for a berth to the tournament. The Eagles need one win for the top seed while the Warriors need one win for a ticket to City of Palms Park.
EMBRY-RIDDLEThe Eagles enter this weekend's contest at 31-16 overall after dropping two of three games to St. Thomas last weekend, the first TSC series loss for ERAU since 2012. The offense has a .284 batting average and .363 on-base percentage while the Eagle pitching staff boasts a 2.36 ERA in 405.0 innings.
Darryl Knight leads the team with a .348 average with 57 hits, 11 doubles, three triples and seven home runs and 39 RBIs.
Kevin Lindheim is 10 hits short of 150 for his two-year Eagle career and is currently hitting .321 with 60 hits, 13 doubles and 36 RBIs for the Blue and Gold.
The three weekend starters for ERAU,
Daniel Poncedeleon,
Stetson Nelson and
Corey Tufts, have combined for 22 wins, 197 Ks and just 20 extra-base hits.
SCOUTING WEBBER INTERNATIONALThe Warriors are looking for a berth into the 2014 Sun Conference Tournament and need just one one to reach Fort Myers. Webber International can finish no better than fifth in the standings.
The Warriors have a .270 batting average with 70 extra-base hits in 443 total base knocks. Shae Cothran leads the team with a .358 average with 58 hits, 11 doubles, two triples and one home run, while Austin Aubuchon paces the squad with 58 hits, 13 doubles and 33 RBIs.
The WIU pitching staff has been very good thus far, posting a 3.50 ERA in 437.2 innings of work with 312 strikeouts and just a .247 opponent's batting average. Josh Ganus has a 3.02 ERA and six complete games with 70 Ks for WIU.
THE #ERAUvsWIU SERIESEmbry-Riddle is 60-12 all-time against Webber International, including a 4-0 mark last season. The Warriors downed the Eagles 4-3 in 11 innings in the season opener back on Feb. 1.
