ABOUT EMBRY-RIDDLEThe Blue and Gold are 6-6 on the season and 3-1 in conference after picking up a pair of 3-0 sweeps at Northwood and Ave Maria last weekend. The Eagles reached the NAIA National Tournament Final Site for the fourth consecutive season in 2013. Head Coach Josylnn Gallop is the winningest coach in program history, owning a 243-90 career record in this, her 10th season at the helm of the Eagles.
ABOUT WEBBER INTERNATIONALWebber International is currently 8-10 and 2-3 in conference play. The Warriors have conference wins over Ave Maria and Florida Memorial this season, with losses against Northwood, St. Thomas and Southeastern.
As a team, WIU ranks among the top 50 in the NAIA in a number of categories, including service aces (113, 25th), assists (724, 34th) and digs (1,043, 35th). Breanna Bissel is the top offensive threat, ranking 21st in the nation with 216 kills, while Anitaka Knight is not too far behind, listed 37th with 200 kills. Michelle Calderon ranks 17th in the country with 338 digs and Sabina Gerard is 42nd with 497 assists.
ABOUT WARNERWarner is currently 3-7 and 2-1 in conference play. The Royals split last weekend, defeating Florida Memorial and falling to St. Thomas. WU also has a victory over Northwood this year.
The Royals are ranked ninth in the NAIA in service aces per set at 2.18, led by Rachel Stanton (0.60, 19th) and Adrienne Czaplewski (0.52, 36th). Czaplewski also leads the team with 96 kills and 102 digs, while Stanton is the primary setter with 262 assists.
EAGLES DOMINANT AT HOMESince 2008, the Eagles have made the ICI Center a difficult place for visitors to play. Embry-Riddle holds an 83-15 record at home since the beginning of the 2008 season, a winning percentage of .847. In Sun Conference play, the Eagles have lost just once at home since the beginning of the 2010 season. Since then, the Blue and Gold have won 27 of its last 28 home conference matches.
BLUE AND GOLD AMONG THE NATION'S BESTThe Eagles have shown this season that they are among the best in the NAIA in kills and assists. Embry-Riddle is currently averaging 12.91 kills/set, the 21st-best average in the country. With 11.98 assists/set, ERAU ranks 19th in the NAIA.
GRAY DOMINANT DEFENSIVELYSenior libero
Hannah Gray has proven that she is one of the best defensive players in the country with her stellar play this season. Gray, last year's Sun Conference Libero of the Year, is currently averaging 6.45 digs/set, the fifth-highest average in the nation. On Aug. 30, the DeLand, Florida native racked up 46 digs, which is currently tied for the fourth-highest single-match total in the NAIA this year.
FERREIRA DOING IT ALLJunior setter
Tamires Ferreira is out to prove that setters can do more than just rack up assists. She has done a great job circulating the ball while running the 5-1 offense for the Eagles, recording 474 assists for an average of 10.53 assists/set, which ranks her 11th in the nation in that category. Ferreira totaled a career-high 60 assists against St. Thomas on Sept. 12, which is currently tied for the third-highest single-match total in the nation this season. In addition to setting, she has also collected a team-leading 30 service aces, ranking 11th in the NAIA with an average of 0.67 service aces/set, in addition to picking up 124 digs, second-best on the team. Ferreira has also proven to be an offensive threat herself, putting down 51 kills, the fifth-highest total on the team. The Barbacena, Brazil native also has 12 blocks on the season, ranking sixth on the Eagle squad.
BEATTY COMING UP BIGSenior outside hitter Jennifer Beatty has been climbing the national leaderboard as of late, and currently ranks 16th in the NAIA with 3.77 kills/set. Beatty leads the team with 166 kills, including a 28-kill effort against St. Thomas on Sept. 12, which is currently tied for the sixth-highest single-match total in the nation this season.MILESTONE CHASEAt least one Eagle is in the hunt for a career milestone and a program record during the 2014 season.
Hannah Gray stands at 1,684 career digs, 100 behind Senia McIntyre's 1,784 program record number. Gray has led the team in digs in each of her two years at Embry-Riddle, including last year's single-season school-record 809 digs.
PRESEASON FAVORITESThe Sun Conference coaches selected the Eagles to top the league's preseason poll, released in August. Embry-Riddle garnered seven first-place votes and 49 total points to claim the No. 1 spot in the poll, while St. Thomas came in second with one first-place votes and 41 total points.
20 SEASONS OF EAGLE VOLLEYBALLThe 2014 season marks the 20th edition of Eagle volleyball. Embry-Riddle is 433-244 all-time, capturing six regular season titles, five conference tournament titles and making four appearances at the NAIA National Championship.
