HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team wrapped up its 2015 season on Saturday morning at the Sand Shark Invitational, hosted by the University of South Carolina Beaufort. The Eagles placed ninth overall as
Noah Kemp became the 20th-fastest runner in program history.
Embry-Riddle - 9th of 31 (Meet Results)ERAU had several runners fail to finish due to some injuries, but still managed top place in the top 10 amongst 31 total teams. The Eagles' 254 total points put them just seven behind eighth-place finisher Southeastern. Embry-Riddle totalled 135:13.17 with an average finish of 27:02.63.
The Eagles Kemp led the way for the Blue and Gold, finishing 15th overall in 25:49.97, as he stenciled his name into the Embry-Riddle record books. Five of the 20-fastest runners in program history have set their best time at the Sand Shark Invitational.
James Fell placed 43rd overall in 26:39.34, a personal-best time and
Calahan Warren came in 61st overall in 27:00.99, also a personal record.
Andrew Carosi (90th - 27:44.12) and
John Dennehy (102nd - 27:58.75) rounded out the Embry-Riddle scorers, setting PRs in the process.
Robert Davis (108th - 28:07.24) and
Will Rice (111th - 28:08.01) also finished for the Eagles as each set a personal-best, including shaving nearly two minutes off his previous mark of 29:56.80 at the Florida State Invitational on Oct. 2.
Next UpThe Sand Shark Invitational marked the final meet of 2015 for the Eagles as ERAU is in transition to NCAA II and are provisional members of the Sunshine State Conference. Due to transitional rules, the Eagles are not eligible for postseason competition. The Blue and Gold will return to run in the fall of 2016.
