On Thursday, the Eagles erased a 14-point deficit to top FMU 76-66 and move into sole possession of fourth place in the league standings. The Eagles are now 16-11 on the year and 8-9 in Sun Conference play, and have secured a spot in the conference tournament.
Four Eagles are scoring in double-figures, including
Sabrina Whiting (13.0 ppg),
Mercedes Jorge (12.7 ppg),
Kalah Martin (10.8 ppg) and
Taylor Cyphers (10.2 ppg). Martin also leads the Eagles with 2.1 steals per contest and is second with 2.8 assists per outing behind Martin who leads the Blue and Gold with 3.0 assists per contest.
Mercedes Jorge is averaging a team-best 8.6 rebounds per outing and
Taylor Cyphers is just behind her with 7.9 boards per game.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATSJohnson & Wales is looking to bounce back from a 67-55 loss to Warner on Thursday. Fourth-year Head Coach Kymberly Hope's squad is now 9-18 overall and 5-12 in The Sun Conference.
The Wildcats' leading scorer is Kristina Bridges, who is averaging 16.0 points per game, and Joanne Tran, who ranks ninth nationally in the made three-pointers per game (2.9). Bridges also leads JWU in rebounding (7.2 rpg) and assists (3.3 apg), while Diamond Williams leads the team in steals (2.1 spg).
