LAKELAND, Fla. -
Andrew Carpenter finished second overall to pace the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the Moccasin Invitational, hosted by Florida Southern, on Friday evening. The Eagles, running in their second meet in less than a week, got a pair of top-10 finishers en route to 82 team points.
Embry-Riddle - 4th of 9 (Meet Results)ERAU's 82 points put them in-between groups with the top three squads, Saint Leo (54), Nova Southeastern (59) and Florida Southern (62), at the top, and the rest of the teams trailing the Blue and Gold by more than 35 points. Embry-Riddle totalled 2:21:16.80 with an average time of 28:15.36.
The Eagles Carpenter's second-place finish was his best as a collegian, as he finished just 16 seconds behind race medalist Jose Perez (Florida Southern) in a time of 27:03.10.
Jamin Mays had his best finish of the year with a seventh-place showing, running 27:28.60.
James Fell's time of 28:23.20 was good for 22nd, while
Adam Lawrence, running unattached, finished 26th overall in 29:01.20.
The remaining two Eagle scorers were
Calahan Warren (27th - 28:23.20) and
Palmer Lintz (34th - 28:20.70).
Noah Kemp (29:28.30),
John Dennehy (29:36.20) and
Andrew Carosi (31:20.10) also competed for the Blue and Gold.
Next UpEmbry-Riddle will run its third race in as many weeks next Friday in Tallahassee when the Eagles compete in the Florida State Invitational.
