@ERAUVolleyball Sees Win Streak Snapped at Barry

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team had its five-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday as the Barry Buccaneers swept the Eagles 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-13) at the Health & Sports Center in Miami Shores. The Eagles' record now stands at 11-8, while BU's mark improves to an identical 11-8.

Amanda Saunders led the Eagles with five kills and Ella Duggan had a team-high three blocks. Olivia Roa was solid in the back row, picking up a match-high 20 digs, while Alyssa Rudd (nine assists) and Jordan Nakayama (eight assists) ran the offense.

Set one was a close affair, with neither side opening up a lead of more than three points until a 3-0 Barry run gave the Bucs a 20-15 lead. The Eagles got back within three on a James kill to make it 21-18, but BU scored the final four points of the frame to win the set, 25-18.

The Blue and Gold got off to a terrible start in the second set, falling behind 14-3. Embry-Riddle made things interesting, slowly clawing its way back into the set and closing the gap to as little as three points (18-15), but the Buccaneers regained the momentum and finished the set on a 7-2 spurt to win by a score of 25-17 to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

Barry jumped out to a 4-1 lead in set three but a block from Duggan and Asya Oguz brought the Eagles level at 5-5. BU retook the lead and maintained it for the rest of the set, using a 6-1 run to pull out to a 18-11 lead and eventually going to claim the set, 25-13.

The Eagles are back on the road again on Tuesday, Oct. 25 when they travel to Melbourne for a 7 p.m. tilt at Florida Tech.
