DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team blasted Southeastern University by a shutout score of 9-0 on Thursday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 6-6 on the year while the Fire fall to 7-8.
 
Lydia Carter and Meena Bennett started things off for the Blue and Gold by winning 8-1 at number 3 doubles. Paula Ortiz Couder and Kathryn Bock then quickly followed suit by downing their opponents 8-2. Hui-I Huang and Anna Gotz then earned the Eagles the doubles sweep by besting Alexis Quinn and Kelsi Black 8-2.
 
Up on the Fire, Bock swiftly took care of business in the number four singles spot by defeating Melanie Dodd 6-0, 6-1. Scoring the clincher for the Eagles, Couder was victorious against Madeline Wills, 6-1, 6-1. Huang then easily handled Quinn in the number one singles spot 6-0, 6-1. Anna Gotz won her match as well by downing Black 6-2, 7-5.
 
The number five and number six singles matches were played to only eight points. Bennett took an 8-3 win over Morgan Logue and Carter earned the 8-0 shutout over Emily Mosley.
 
The Eagles return to action this Saturday as they travel to Eckerd. The match gets underway at 1pm.
