@ERAUSoftball Salvages Series Win with Doubleheader Split

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team split a doubleheader against the Florida Southern Moccasins. In game one, the Mocs shutout the Eagles 3-0. The Blue and Gold came back to win game two 2-1. Embry-Riddle moves to 12-12 while Florida Southern becomes 13-10.

GAME ONE - FSC 3, ERAU 0

The Mocs took the lead in the first inning when they scored two runs on a two-out home run.

In the fourth inning, FSC widened the gap when they brought in an unearned run, now leading 3-0.

Florida Southern pitching staff found the Eagle's Achilles' heel, facing no more than four batters in the first six innings and allowing only one ERAU runner past second base throughout the game.

Unable to knock in any runs, the Eagles were shut out by the Mocs with a final score of 3-0.

Ilona Andringa (7-6) took the loss giving up three runs on five hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Maggie Scott and Gabriella Obia each finished 2-for-3 at the plate and had the only hits for the Eagles.

GAME TWO - ERAU 2, FSC 0

The Eagles turned their luck around and took the lead in the second inning of game two. Kendall Funk singled followed by Obia's walk and Kim George's hit by pitch to load the bases. Destiny Carroll singled in Funk to give the Blue and Gold a 1-0 advantage.

In the third inning ERAU bumped the score to 2-0 after Battison singled, stole second, advanced to third on Scott's single and was brought home on Funk's sacrifice fly.

The Eagles loaded the bases in the sixth but did not push any additional runs through. However, their two runs proved to be enough, as the Mocs only scored one run in the sixth for a 2-1 Eagle victory.

Kassidy Simons (5-6) earned the win giving up one run on seven hits and striking out six. Funk went 1-for-2 at the plate scoring one run and knocking in the other. Carroll was also 1-for-2 and had one RBI.

The Eagles return to action on Monday, March 13 in Daytona Beach as they face Southern New Hampshire in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
