Eight Reach Double-Figures in @ERAUMBasketball's 112-59 Rout of Maine Fort Kent

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The 2018-19 home opener for the Embry-Riddle men's basketball team lacked much drama as the Eagles cruised to a 112-59 victory over Maine Fort Kent. Embry-Riddle (5-2) sprinted out to a 53-23 lead at halftime and the Bengals (2-6) were never able to get any closer. The 53-point margin was the largest in an Eagle victory since the last time these two teams played in 2014 (114-61). The Blue and Gold put eight players into double-figures offensively, and all 11 Eagles that suited up scored.

Embry-Riddle made a season-high 15 three-pointers in the game, with Elijah Jenkins matching a career-high with five treys. The sophomore from Atlanta paced the Eagles with 15 points on the night along with Alston Jones who flirted with a triple-double of 15 points, seven assists and six rebounds, before subbing out with over 12 minutes left to play in the second half. The front court pair of Luka Majstorovic and Chris Murray each had double-doubles with Majstorovic scoring 11 points and pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds and Murray finishing with 11 points and 12 boards.

Despite the Eagles' dominance, the Bengals actually took a 2-0 lead to start the game and stayed with ERAU through the first six minutes of the game, tying the game at 14-14 on a Jarid Wilson offensive rebound and stick-back. Jones hit a jumper at the 13:17 mark to regain the lead and Embry-Riddle took off after that, going on a 29-5 run over the next 10 minutes. Murray put a cap on the spurt with a jumper in the paint off a Jones assist, making it 43-19 Eagles at the four-minute mark and Jenkins finished the scoring in the period with a triple to make it 53-23 heading into the break.

The second half began just as the first had ended, with a Jenkins three and ERAU carried its hot-shooting over from the opening period, managing nearly 50 percent from the field in the second half en route to the huge win.

Joshua Hawkins, Cj Henagan and Cole Hunter all came off the bench and scored in double-figures, with Hawkins finishing with 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. David Velasco, seeing his first extended playing time of the year, dished out six assists, while Scott Oakley and Joey Stahl each saw their first action of the season, scoring seven and six points, respectively. Stahl's six points on two three-pointers were the first of his collegiate career.

As a team, the Eagles handed out 28 assists on 41 made field goals, while grabbing 61 rebounds, the most in a single-game in over a decade.

Embry-Riddle comes right back to the ICI Center following Thanksgiving by hosting the 2018 Daytona Mitsubishi/Kia Shootout, Nov. 23-24. It will be Davenport (Mich.) and Lees-McRae (N.C.) to tip things off at 6 p.m. on Friday before the Eagles take on Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at 8 p.m. The consolation game is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday with the championship game to follow at 6 p.m.
