PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team traveled to Schenley Park to compete in the NCAA II National Championships.
Facing tough conditions, the Eagles had to adapt to running in cold temperatures and rainy weather. The Blue and Gold placed 29th out of 34 teams in its men's NCAA II Nationals team debut, totaling a team score of 692.
ERAU was led by senior Paul Mckenna who had the team's highest finish in his final cross country race as an Eagle. His time of 34:36.9 resulted in a 99th place finish.
Freshmen
Ryan Szklany and
Lelei Too had the second and third best finishes for the Eagles. Szklany finished 151st with a time of 35:14.2, while Too placed 156th with a time of 35:17.2.
Rounding out the Eagle results,
Paris Williams finished 196th (35:57.4),
Calahan Warren placed 207th (36:15.8),
Garrett Noltemeyer finished 226th (36:40.6) and
Shaun Bullock finished 255 (37:44.8).
"It was a tough day on a very sloppy, muddy course," ERAU Head Coach
Mike Rosolino said. "I thought we had a great effort today, but not the result we hoped for. We had a great season and I am proud of our teams."
Grand Valley State finished 1st overall with a team score of 89. Colorado Mines (99) and Western Colorado (117) made up the top-3. Colorado St.-Pueblo's Marcelo Laguera took home the individual crown with a time of 31:36.4.
