@ERAUMLax Drops 13-3 Road Contest at Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Playing in its third consecutive game away from home, the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team couldn't keep up with host Coker on Sunday, falling 13-3. The Eagles (0-4) fell behind 6-0 midway through the second quarter before notching their first tally of the day as the Cobras (2-2) kept up the pressure, pulling away for the win.

Coker struck early as Denton Wilks put the home team up 1-0 a little over five minutes into the game, but the Eagles held the hosts to just one more goal in the first period. Unfortunately, all five of the Blue and Gold's shots in the first were either saved or went wide as Coker took a 2-0 lead after the opening quarter.

The Eagles started the second period with three straight shots at the Coker goal, with Carlos Kinder's 13:22 attempt saved by Chris Hagy. The Cobras doubled their lead with two goals in the next few minutes before adding another pair at the 9:13 mark and 4:39 mark, respectively.

ERAU finally got on the board when Alex Ruiz scored his first goal of the season with just under three minutes left in the half as Kyle Dalrymple registered his first assist of the year. Jerry Wilson made a save right before the break as ERAU took a little momentum with them into the third quarter.

Ruiz added his second goal of the contest in the third quarter, making it 8-2 Coker, and that score would remain for the rest of the period.

The two teams traded goals in the opening moments of the fourth, with ERAU's coming via Joey Saccal's first score of the 2018 campaign, but Coker ended the contest on a 4-0 run en route to the 10-goal win.

The Cobras out-shot the Eagles 39-27, while Wilson made six saves in net for the Blue and Gold. Ground balls were nearly even at 28-27 Coker and the Cobras held a slim, 10-9 face off advantage.

Embry-Riddle takes a week off before traveling to Young Harris next Sunday for a 1 p.m. game against the Mountain Lions.
