Young Harris Holds Off @ERAUMLax 17-7

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse dropped a 17-7 decision at Young Harris on Sunday afternoon, moving to 0-5 in the Eagles' inaugural season. The Mountain Lions (7-3) won every quarter, including a pair of 6-2 periods in the first half.

ERAU kept the shots on goal race close as YHC held just a 23-17 advantage, but the hosts scored on 17 of those shots, while the Eagles were held to just seven goals on their 17 attempts.

Young Harris got on the board first just over two minutes into the game, and the Mountain Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first eight minutes, holding the Eagles to one shot in the process.

Ian Heggblod scored his first collegiate goal at the 4:57 mark to get the Eagles on the board, and Jacob Saccal added ERAU's second score with 48 seconds left in the first quarter.

Embry-Riddle kept the momentum going into the second period as Saccal added another tally at the 13:33 mark, but YHC scored two quick ones to push the lead to 8-3 before adding on another pair before Alex Ruiz got one back with three minutes to play in the half.

The Mountain Lions scored two goals in the final 80 seconds to take a comfortable, 12-6 lead into the break.

The second half proved to be a much more defensive one as the two teams combined for just eight goals.

After three YHC scores to open the third quarter, Saccal and Kyle Dalrymple scored for the Blue and Gold, making it 15-6 heading into the fourth where the Mountain Lions got a pair of goals and Ruiz added his second of the contest.

Jerry Wilson made six saves in goal for Embry-Riddle as Saccal finished with three goals to lead the way offensively for ERAU.

Embry-Riddle stays on the road in Georgia, taking on Shorter on Tuesday, March 13 at 1 p.m.
