DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's cross country team began their 2018 season off on a strong note, taking first place at the 16th running of the ASICS Embry-Riddle Classic on Saturday. It was the 11th time in the last 12 years that the Eagles took home the top prize.
2020 Olympic hopeful Enoch Nadler of the Team Florida Track Club won the race in 25:38.91, followed by Bethune-Cookman's Daniel Kiptoo (26:22.18). Embry-Riddle's
Ryan Szklany introduced himself to the college ranks emphatically, taking third overall in 26:26.41, while fellow Eagles
Paul McKenna (26:54.38) and
Lelei Too (26:55.86) finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Shaun Bullock ran a 27:14.63 to place 11th overall and
Paris Williams secured the team title for the Blue and Gold with a 13th-place finish in 27:36.19. Also running for ERAU were
Brian Cheluget (27:55.58 - 21st),
Calahan Warren (28:13.80 - 26th),
Austin Epstein (28:36.73 - 30th),
Justin Nauman (29:23.57 - 44th),
Bryce Cole (30:37.17 - 63rd),

Bryce Walker (31:44.64 - 84th) and
Adam Lawrence (36:03.22 - 119th).
The Eagles won the team title with ease, totaling 39 points, outpacing Florida Southern's 68 points and Flagler's 100 points. Florida Track Club (122) took fourth and Bethune-Cookman (148) rounded out the top five.

The Eagles will hit the road next weekend for the Mountain Dew Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida, on Saturday, Sept. 22 in Gainesville.
