DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle junior
Georgina Wood closed out play in the 2018 ERAU Open with a 2-1 record in the three-day tournament which ended on Sunday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
After dropping her first singles match, Wood bounced back for straight set wins in each of her two remaining matches, topping Eastern Florida State College's Shaeda Nickle 6-4, 6-4 and EFSC's Valeria Arevalo 6-2, 6-2.
The ERAU tandem of
Itxaso Blanco and
Alexis Marshall notched two wins in doubles play. Their first match saw the duo hold off Flagler's Eden Schlagenhauf and Alessandra Traub 8-7 (5). Blanco and Marshall took down another Flagler pair in their final match of the tournament, downing Sofia Vagaja and Paloma Martinez 8-3.
Next up for the Eagles is the ITA South Regional hosted by Florida Southern at the Wynne Warden Tennis Center in Lakeland, Florida, Sept. 21-24.
