DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –

Alex Ruiz, and
Gage Poindexter each tallied hat tricks to lead the Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team to an 18-9 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Friday night. The win moves the Eagles to 2-0 on the season, while the Argonauts fall to 0-2.
The 18 goals are a program record, as is the margin of victory (9).
Kane and Ruiz each had an assist to end the night with four points apiece, while
Coleman Jacobs also tallied four points on two goals and two assists.
Kyle Dalrymple posted a game-high three assists, while
Sean Anderson collected a match-best seven ground balls. Anderson was also dominant in faceoffs, winning 11 of 16, while
Mark Urso won 10 of the 14 he took. In total, 10 different Eagles scored goals and 13 different Eagles tallied points.
Embry-Riddle got on the board first with a goal from Kane at the 11:29 mark of the first quarter. Kane followed that up with another goal just seven seconds later, marking the fastest two goals in program history. The Blue and Gold quickly made it 3-0 on a goal from
Michael Forte just 12 seconds after Kane's second goal. ERAU tallied two more scores before the quarter was over, giving the home side a 5-0 lead after the first 15 minutes.
Ruiz scored his first goal near the midway point of the second quarter, building the Eagle lead to 9-1. His second goal, which came in the final minute of the half, increased the margin to 12-2, which would hold as the score at the end of the half.
Embry-Riddle outscored the Argonauts 4-3 in the third quarter, with goals from four different players. In the fourth, NDNU outscored the Blue and Gold 4-2, though the game was well in hand at that point, with Embry-Riddle taking the 18-9 win.
The Eagles will return to the field on Sunday, Feb. 10, when they host Young Harris at 3 p.m. The Mountain Lions knocked off Palm Beach Atlantic, 14-12, in a game that took place just prior the ERAU-NDNU contest. The Sailfish and the Argonauts will face off at 12 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the Embry-Riddle game against Young Harris.
