@ERAUWLax Tripped Up by Lenoir-Rhyne, 16-13

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team fell to Lenoir-Rhyne by a 16-13 score on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles (5-3) held a 13-11 lead but the Bears (4-3) rattled off five straight goals in the final 5:29 to take the victory.

Mya Watson had four goals and an assist while McKenzie Jackson tallied three goals, two assists, and 10 draw controls. Elizabeth Ninesling added two goals, and assist, and a team-high six ground balls while Tori Lammes had a pair of goals and four ground balls. Skylar Mossop (2-3) made five saves in goal for the Eagles.

The Eagles got off to a 2-0 start thanks to early goals from Jackson and Kendall Leonard, but the Bears answered with two straight goals to tie things up at 2-2 with 23:04 left in the half. The two sides traded goals until Lenoir-Rhyne scored three consecutive tallies to pull ahead, 6-4. Lammes and Carson Toney netted goals just 11 seconds apart to tie the game 6-6 with just over five minutes left before halftime. The score remained 6-6 until a Bear goal with 15 seconds left made it look like the visitors would have a one-goal lead at the break, but Ninesling was able to convert a free position shot with just one second remaining to even the score at 7-7.

Watson put the Eagles in front 8-7 just over a minute into the second period, after which the offenses went cold for nearly 10 minutes. Lenoir-Rhyne broke the scoreless stream with just over 20 minutes left in the game, only to see Watson re-establish the Eagle lead with a free position goal 65 seconds later. After the Bears tied it again, Jackson put ERAU back on top 10-9 with 14:04 left. Watson tallied her third of the game just 12 seconds later, giving the Blue and Gold an 11-9 advantage. Lenoir-Rhyne battled back with consecutive goals, tying the game 11-1 with 9:26 on the clock. Watson's fourth goal of the game put the home side back in front and Jackson followed with a woman-up free position goal that pushed the Eagle lead to 13-11 with 6:21 to play. The Bears scored a woman-down goal less than a minute later to close to within a goal, and the visitors found the tying goal with just under four minutes left. With 3:17 on the clock, Ninesling scored what appeared to be a go-ahead goal, but it was disallowed when her pocket was deemed to be illegal. Lenoir-Rhyne promptly took advantage of the turnover, netting a goal with 2:55 to play that would prove to be the game-winner. The Bears added two more goals in the final 2:21 and the Eagles couldn't mount a late comeback, giving Lenoir-Rhyne the 16-13 win.

The Eagles are back in action on Saturday, March 16, when they host Young Harris at 12 p.m.
