WILSON, N.C. – For the fifth time this season, the Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team outscored an opponent by 15 goals or more as the Eagles downed Barton 20-5 on Friday. Friday's victory marked the Eagles' second road win of the year and improved their overall record to 7-3, while the Bulldogs fell to 5-4.
Less than a minute after Barton got the game's first goal from Kayli Ashenfelter at the 24:06 mark, the Eagles erupted for nine unanswered goals over the next 13 minutes. The run began with a
Tori Lammes' unassisted score and featured a pair of goals each by
McKenzie Jackson,
Elizabeth Ninesling and
Mya Watson. After Watson's unassisted goal put the Blue and Gold up 9-1 with 10:59 left in the half, the Bulldogs tallied a pair of goals before Jackson completed her first-half hat trick to make it 10-3 ERAU at the intermission.
Each team recorded a goal in the first four minutes of the second half, but another Eagle run allowed the visitors to further widen the gap. ERAU outscored Barton 9-1 in the last 23 minutes of the contest to secure the win.
Kendall Leonard and
Carson Toney paced the Eagles with six points each. Leonard tallied three goals, three assists and four draws, while Toney added four goals and two assists. Ninesling also scored four goals to go with five ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers. Jackson and
Gillian Greenberg each had a hat trick with Jackson winning 10 draws on the day. Watson scored twice on Friday to become the first Eagle to reach the 100-goal milestone.
Mary Catherine Kreider went the distance in goal for the Eagles, collecting four saves on the way to her third win of the year.
The Eagles are back home at the ERAU Lacrosse Field at 7 p.m. on Tuesday to host Montevallo.
