WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team dropped a Sunshine State Conference match at Rollins on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 5-2. The Eagles' season mark now stands at 5-6 overall and 1-4 in conference play, while the Tars improve to 7-5, 1-2 in SSC matches.
Georgina Wood and
Alexis Marshall won at No. 2 doubles, downing Ola Durzynski and Kaitlynn Groves, 6-4, but Rollins was able to capture the doubles point with wins in the other two doubles contests.
Wood also won her singles match, defeating Savanna Fuller on court three, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. The other singles win for ERAU was on court four, where
Sabrina Ehrenfort took down Groves, 6-2, 6-2. The top two singles matches each required a third set, with Alexandra Borg needing to go to a third-set tiebreak to get the win over
Itxaso Blanco, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (9-7). At No. 2 singles, Durzynski came back from being down a set to defeat Robert Krvajica 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. The final two singles matches also went to the Tars, with Teresa Kaiser beating Marshall on court five, 4-6, 7-5, 7-5, and Marie Debruyn besting
Mafalda Soares on court six, 6-2, 6-4.
The Blue and Gold will travel to Valdosta, Georgia this weekend for a pair of neutral-site contests. On Saturday, March 30, ERAU will take on No. 27 West Florida, and the Eagles will then battle No. 14 West Alabama on Sunday, March 31.
