DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse bounced back from a loss earlier this week to top Nyack (0-2) 20-3, Saturday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. The Eagles (5-2) never trailed and led by double digits for the majority of the contest en route to its fourth home win and fifth win overall this season.
Seven different Eagles recorded goals on Saturday.
Mya Watson and
McKenzie Jackson each produced seven-point games with Watson tallying four goals and three assists, and Jackson matching her season scoring high with five goals to go with two assists and nine ground balls.
The Eagles scored the first goal of the contest in the second minute when
Gillian Greenberg finished a pass from Watson for the first of four Greenberg goals on the day. The next three minutes featured sloppy play on both sides with the Warriors turning the ball over three times and ERAU recording four miscues, and at the 25:03 mark, Nyack was able to tie the score courtesy of a Shaylagh Devlin goal.
Watson answered for the Eagles a minute later and that score awakened the Eagle offense which scored seven unanswered goals over the next nine minutes.
Carson Toney netted one of her three goals at the 9:36 mark to increase the Eagle lead to 11-1 and from then one it was a running clock for the remainder of the contest as ERAU never relinquished the lead.
The Eagles led 36-16 in shots and won 13 of 23 draw controls, led by seven from Jackson and five from
Elizabeth Ninesling who also had eight ground balls in the game.
The Eagles return to the ERAU Lacrosse for another midday game on Wednesday when they host Lenoir-Rhyne at 1 p.m.
