Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

@ERAUWLax Edges Florida Tech 15-14

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Sophomore McKenzie Jackson scored five goals to lead the Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team to a 15-14 win over Sunshine State Conference foe Florida Tech, Saturday at the ERAU Lacrosse Field. The Eagles took hold of the lead in the beginning of the game and never relinquished it, improving their overall record to 10-5 and their SSC mark to 2-2.

The win also secured the Eagles' first 10-win season and doubled their SSC win total from their inaugural campaign in 2018.

Saturday marked the fifth five-goal outing of the season for Jackson who also won nine draw controls and caused two turnovers. Four other Eagle players tallied two goals apiece, including Mya Watson who tied her single-game best with four assists.

The Eagles jumped out in front early as goals by Jackson and Elizabeth Ninesling gave the home team a 2-0 lead five minutes into the contest. The game was separated by no more than two goals for the majority of the first half, but with 5:20 left in the half, goals by Kendall Leonard, Gillian Greenberg and Jackson gave the Blue and Gold a 9-6 lead at the intermission.

Jackson made it a four-goal (10-6) game at the 24:15 mark of the second period, and both teams exchanged scores over the next 17 minutes resulting in a 15-10 lead for the Eagles.

The last 4:39 of the contest saw the Eagles struggle to capitalize on their chances on goal. Florida Tech, however, was able to find the back of the net four times during that stretch. The Panthers had some more chances to score, but Mary Catherine Kreider, who finished with 12 saves, came up with some big defensive stops to help the Eagles seal the win.

Sam Schiano was the game's high scorer with six goals for the Panthers who fell to 6-8 overall and 1-4 in the league with the loss.

The Eagles are back on the road on Wednesday when they travel to Winter Park to take on fifth-ranked Rollins. Game time is schedule for 7:30 p.m.
