DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team rolled through all three doubles and six singles matches 1:41 on the way to a 7-0 win over Northwood (Mich.), Saturday at the Crotty Tennis Complex. Their shortest match of the season so far saw the Eagles pick up their fifth win in as many matches to improve to 7-1 on the year. The Timberwolves fall to 6-9 with the loss
Embry-Riddle captured the doubles point in just 25 minutes winning on all three courts. The ERAU tandem of
Itxaso Blanco and
Alexis Marshall made quick work of Kate Berestovenko and Elizaveta Velichko at No. 1 doubles as they took down the Northwood pair 6-1 in 18 minutes to earn the Eagles' first point of the morning.
Roberta Krvajica and
Georgina Wood followed with a 6-2 defeat of Ekaterina Vorobeva and Iryna Trystan at No. 2, and
Sabrina Ehrenfort and
Julia Mautner made it a clean sweep in doubles for the Blue and Gold with a 6-1 win over Paula John and Anna Goncharova at the third position.
The Eagles' 1-0 advantage following doubles play quickly doubled to 2-0 when Marshall topped John 6-1, 6-0 on court five. Krvajica was next off the court with her 6-1, 6-2 victory over Velichko and Blanco bested Berestovenko 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to clinch the Eagle win.
Ehrenfort and Mautner finished within a few minutes of each other just moments after Blanco's win. Ehrenfort downed Trystan 6-2, 6-1 on court four and Mautner beat Goncharova 6-2, 6-2 at the sixth spot.
The last match of the morning saw Wood win the first set at No. 2 6-3 then rally to take the second against Velichko by the same score.
The Eagles take the courts again at 10 a.m. on Monday when they face Daemen at the Crotty Tennis complex.
