DAYTONA BEACH, Florida – Embry-Riddle Athletics is excited to announce its 2020 fall schedule of events during this incredibly unique time. With student-athletes back on campus and teams preparing for a busy year, ERAU is planning on utilizing the fall portion of the 2020 calendar to focus on engaging and connecting with Eagle alumni, supporters, donors and fans.
"The impact of the global pandemic has challenged all of us over the last six months, but we are eager to get reconnected with our alumni, boosters and friends," ERAU Director of Athletics
John Phillips said. "As you can see from the schedule of events, the month of October is going to be incredibly busy for our staff, but I can't wait to get started!"
After a tremendously successful Day of Giving in 2018, in which more than 200 Embry-Riddle Athletic alums raised in excess of $70,000 in just 24 hours, and a similarly successful 2019 Day of Giving, ERAU is launching the Week of Giving, scheduled for Sept. 28 – Oct. 2, 2020.
The Embry-Riddle Athletics' Week of Giving will be broken down into three separate season segments, starting with the fall sports on Sept. 28, the winter sports on Sept. 29, and the spring sports on Sept. 30. Oct. 1 will be reserved for all sports to drum up one additional day of support before the Week of Giving wraps up at 12 p.m. on Oct. 2.
The 2020 Blue & Gold Gala, which was postponed in March, will transition to a virtual event on Oct. 8, with an online auction running from Oct. 5 – Oct. 16. The Blue & Gold Gala, Embry-Riddle Athletics' premier annual fundraising event, will also lead into ERAU's 2020 Virtual Homecoming events.
The third major department-wide engagement event in the fall will be the annual Eagle Open golf tournament, slated for Oct. 30. This year, the tournament transitions to Club de Bonmont at Plantation Bay.
"Whether you attend the Blue & Gold Gala virtually or you join us in person for the golf tournament at Plantation Bay, please know that we appreciate your support of our student-athletes and our program," Phillips said. "Our student-athletes have dealt with many challenges since March, but I am incredibly proud of the way they have dealt with this adversity. It speaks volumes to their mental toughness and their passion for this University."
More details about each of these three events will be released in the coming weeks. Additionally, the Embry-Riddle Athletic Department will be releasing weekly content via ERAUAthletics.com and social media channels that highlight current ERAU teams, student-athletes, and coaches, as well as alumni spotlights in fun, unique and informative ways.
