DAYTONA BEACH, Florida - For the 16th time in 18 tries, the Embry-Riddle men's cross country team claimed the Embry-Riddle Cross Country Classic on Saturday, running away with the team title in the Eagles' lone home meet of the year.
Paul Kraemer and
Ryan Szklany provided the excitement at the finish for the spectators, going 1-2 individually, separated by less than a second at 26:09.7. It was Kraemer's third top-10 finish for his collegiate career, while Szklany collected his 12th top-10 finish.
Brendon Shea (26:55.4) shattered his previous 8k best time, placing fourth overall, followed by
Micah Blair (27:03.7) in sixth,
Shaun Bullock (27:12.2) in ninth and
Tanner Rosolino (27:20.4) in 10th.
Austin Epstein (28:09.4) finished 17th individually, with
Josh Collins (28:23.6) in 21st,
Josh Beam (28:29.2) in 23rd,
Garrett Noltemeyer (28:53.2) in 29th, and
Jacob D'Aleo (29:27.7) in 37th all in the top-40.
Jack Brooks (48th - 29:47.1),
Mike Klein (65th - 30:19.6),
Justin Brown (69th - 30:29.5), and
Ryan Musil (82nd - 31:13.4) also competed for ERAU on Saturday.
Embry-Riddle's 17 team points were more than 40 better than second-place Seton Hall (59), while Daytona State (64), Flagler (142) and Lake Sumter State College (157) rounded out the top-five in the 13-team college race.
The Blue and Gold will travel to Saint Leo, Florida next Saturday for the NCAA II National Preview at The Abbey Course.
